The Chicago Stockyards

Livestock pens at the Chicago Stockyards in 1913 — just one mile south of our coffeehouse at 31st and Morgan in historic Bridgeport, Chicago.

Gateway to Chicago history

The gateway to the Union Stockyards, built around 1875 and still standing on Exchange Avenue at Peoria Street, just off Halsted (800 west) at Root (4300 south).

Origin: Indonesia
In the Cup: Heavy Body, Rich, Complex

This blend is a mix of Northern and Southern Indonesian Coffees. The spirit of this blend is to consistently produce a big-robust cup without the overwhelming rustic characteristics often associated with beans from this region.

During the time of the Chicago Stockyards, our neighborhood was home to the Lithuanian immigrants who worked there. It was a rough and tumble place in which the most popular tavern on Morgan Street was nicknamed “The Bucket of Blood.”
